It’s our last night in Mykonos before our journey back to Chicago. We decided to paint the town red! With a quick sushi dinner at Hippie Fish and a shared taxi with a duo of Lebanese girls who had just landed and were looking to explore the island just as we had been a week ago. After giving them some recommendations, we were on our way.
We started off with a Passion Fruit Tequila Cocktail titled “The Pornstar” at a venue named Bonbonniere, which is a London based lounge.
After the quick cocktail, we made our way through the mazes that make up downtown Mykonos. Of course my wife needed to get some shopping done. So, we made our way through the mazes of shops and local designers making a few purchases. And it’s funny that being half Indian, I always ask for a discount…very stereotypical. Everyone however gave us a minimum of a 20% discount with any item we purchased. This made me feel much better about everything we were buying. (Compared to a few days ago when my drunken friends would just go into any store, grab whatever they wanted, and went off to the register and pay full price.)
After a couple of hours of shopping we made our way to a high-end lounge where the cocktails started at €25. We chilled for a bit and made sure our delicious drinks were completely finished almost to the point where we were drinking the melted ice. No tip required at this venue.
As we walked through the mazed streets looking for a taxi stand, I realized that we had been in Greece for 7 nights and never had a Gyro.
We found a place called Souvlaki Story, and it was slammed approaching 2:30am. We had two gyro sandwiches, two mini bottles of red wine, and a bottle of water. All for under €20! This was probably the best investment I made throughout the trip. Next to the check-out area, there was a plastic cup that acted as their #TipBx— the only denomination of tips were €0.10 (ten cents) coins. I took the remainder of my €20 bill that I received in change, and dropped it into the #TipBx. The lady at the register was shocked that I gave more than €0.10. I felt like this meal was a real win in my books and deserved a decent tip!
Tomorrow, we are off to London…Stay tuned for more.
